Senior Ashley Jacobson just signed a Letter of Intent to attend Doane University to play softball. She will major in Physical Education with an emphasis in Exercise Science. Jacobson, who pitches and plays second base, is a four-time letter winner in softball, has been named to the Class B All State Softball team, First Team River City Conference, Lincoln Journal Star, Omaha World Herald and All ITG Honorable Mention Teams. She was co-captain this year on the Varsity softball team and is on the honor roll at Gross Catholic. Jacobson has been the varsity softball pitcher since her freshman year at Gross Catholic. She is a Student Ambassador and participates in the Sports Medicine program.
Jacobson said she is grateful to Coach Littrell for giving her the opportunity to play softball for such a strong program, as well as for the opportunity to receive a high quality education at a university that is known for its academic excellence. Jacobson also says she feels prepared to be a leader at Doane because of the education she is receiving and the involvement in extra-curricular activities at Gross Catholic.
Doane University Head Coach Renae Littrell says, “We are excited to add Ashley to our 2017-2018 roster. Ashley has the potential to be a great collegiate player and we are anxious to begin working with her this Fall; she is a great addition.”
Doane University is located in Crete, Nebraska. The University is a member of the NAIA and GPAC (Great Plains Athletic Conference).
