Our Heritage

The Archdiocese of Omaha, with the help of Daniel & Louise Gross, built Daniel J. Gross Catholic High School to meet the critical need for Catholic education in Sarpy County and south Omaha. Archbishop Gerald T. Bergan invited the priests and brothers from the Society of Mary and the Franciscan Sisters of Our Lady of Perpetual Help to help create the Gross Catholic community.

brotherleowebBro. Leo Willett, S.M., our first principal, opened the school on September 3, 1968 with a freshman class of 175 students. The Class of 1972 became the first of over 7,800 alumni on May 28, 1972.

Today, Gross Catholic continues the proud tradition of educational excellence as an Archdiocesan college-prepapatory school, sponsored by the Marianist Province of the U.S.
