The Gross Catholic Cheerleading squads promote Cougar spirit at sporting events and through special student activities. The squads attend camp during the summer and participate in several cheer competitions throughout the year.
The Varsity Squad consists of 10-12 freshmen, sophomore, junior & senior members, chosen by audition each spring. The squad promotes sportsmanship and Cougar spirit at sporting events during the fall and winter seasons. The squad also sponsors several events to promote unity within the Cougar Family.
The JV Squad consists of 10-12 freshman, sophomore, and junior members, chosen by audition each spring. The squad promotes sportsmanship and Cougar spirit at sporting events during the fall and winter seasons.
The Freshman Squad consists of an unlimited number of freshman members, formed at the beginning of each school year. The squad promotes sportsmanship and Cougar spirit at all home football and volleyball games in the fall and all home boys and girls basketball games in the winter.
The Cougar cheer squad took first place for their cheer/dance routine and fifth place for their sideline cheer in the Class B non-tumbling division at the Nebraska Coaches Association State Competition.
The Varsity Squad earned a second place finish at the CheerTym competition and a fourth place finish in the cheer dance category and a fifth place finish in the sideline cheer category at the Nebraska State Cheer and Dance competition.
Cheerleading tryouts are open to all incoming Freshman and existing students, for positions to be filled on Freshman, JV and Varsity squads. Tryouts will take place in March.
