Briar Cliff Hall of Fame Inductee
Gross Catholic is proud to announce that principal, Paulette Neuhalfen, will be inducted into the Briar Cliff University Athletic Hall of Fame on January 19, 2019 in Sioux City, Iowa.Established in 1991, the Briar Cliff Athletic Hall of Fame recognizes and honors former athletes, coaches, personnel, and teams who have made a significant contribution to the Charger Athletic program.
Neuhalfen, a 1992 graduate of Briar Cliff, was a four-year starter for the volleyball team, two-year team captain, and a two-time All-District 15 and all-conference selection. Her prestigious volleyball career at BriarCliff culminated in leading the school in aces and assists. Neuhalfen still ranks number two on the all-time ace list with 176 aces and fourth in career assists with 3,266 helpers. Her mark of 1,550 assists during the1990 season is the third-best single-season total in the program’s history.
The induction ceremony will begin with a luncheon honoring each of the three inductees followed by a formal presentation during halftime at the Briar Cliff men’s basketball game against Doane University. Her former high school coaches Bob Geary (basketball) and Mary Schroeder Miller (volleyball) will introduce Neuhalfen.
In response to her nomination, Neuhalfen commented, “Where I am at today is a direct reflection of my upbringing and support from my parents, family and the fact that my coaches never gave up on me and continually believed in me. They are the reason I am who I am today and where I am at in life.”
