Please join us in 2020, when we challenge our Alumni Cougar Family to make a gift to the Dux Esto Annual Fund!
Alumni support is a key factor in the success and growth of Gross Catholic High School. Not only is alumni giving a vote of support in one’s alma mater, it impacts the amount of financial support we are able to offer our current students. At Gross Catholic, class giving as a matter of participation, has lagged behind many of our peer schools. Currently only 1.76% of our 8300 alumni, donate to our Dux Esto Annual Fund. Our goal is to increase alumni giving to our annual fund, through monthly, quarterly or annual gifts.
For this campaign, we are asking alumni to make an investment in Gross Catholic High School through the Dux Esto Annual Fund. The Dux Esto Annual Fund provides day-to-day support for every aspect of our school, including:
- Competitive salaries for our dedicated and talented faculty.
- Tuition assistance for current students. Nearly 75 percent of Cougar families receive tuition assistance. Last year we provided $1.3 million dollars in tuition assistance.
- Preservation of our current buildings and grounds. As we celebrate our 50th Anniversary this year, there are many needs to ensure we maintain our beautiful campus.
- New educational technologies, leading-edge programs and so much more!
No. We want to reward those alumni and classes that have achieved significant annual giving to date. Therefore, giving percentages on Day 1 will include any gifts made during our current fiscal year. Fiscal year to date gifts include any gifts made between 7/1/2018 and 5/11/2019.
Thank you for your support of the students at Gross Catholic! Your gift has been counted in the challenge. But there is an extra incentive for another gift. Anyone who makes a repeat gift (i.e., gifts made by those class members who have donated between 7/1/2018 and 05/11/2019) will get a bonus by being counted again. So, one individual can be counted as two participants. Only 1 extra gift per person will count.
Participation is the goal of this campaign. Every gift has an impact and supports the mission of the school. We challenge alumni to give a monthly reoccurring gift, that represents the number of years since you have graduated. For example, if you graduated in 2008, could you consider giving $10 a month? Or if you are a member of the first graduating class in 1972, consider donating $47 a month.
Company Matching Gifts – Check with your employer, to see if they have an employee matching charitable gift program. Employee Matching Gifts are donations an employer makes to match its employees’ charitable contributions. Usually associated with corporate grant makers, employee matching gifts often are dollar-for-dollar, but some companies will give double or even triple the original donation.

Challenge your classmates to give as well!
Foremost, you get the satisfaction of supporting the young men and women who currently attend your alma mater. Each alumnus that participates will be included in weekly drawings for prizes and the class that has the largest percentage of giving, will be announced on Monday, July 1st. There will be a plaque acknowledging the winning class, on display at the school, for the 2019 – 2020 school year!
