Meet Ben Theiler, Class of 2019
Ben enjoys advanced vocal technique class, choir, theatre and tennis. Early on in his Gross Catholic experience, he noticed how the upperclassmen demonstrated leadership and he looked up to their example. By the time he reached his junior year, Ben knew it was his turn to lead.
“By my junior year, I realized it was time for me to step up and learn to be a leader,” recalls Ben. “I decided it was time to act with care, compassion, strength, hard-work and determination. My efforts paid off and I was elected co-president of the Dux Esto Drama Department.”
Ben embraced this leadership opportunity and directed 100 of his peers in planning for the drama department. He discovered that leadership is not about being in charge, but rather was about modeling good choices and the behaviors you wish to see in others. “Working with your peers is the biggest key. Nothing should be to beneath you. Each job handed out is as important as the next,” notes Ben.
Ben is committed to helping and serving others, a value he developed during his time at Gross Catholic. “Gross Catholic has indeed prepared me for my future roles that involve leadership and it will do the same for anyone willing to open themselves up and work harder than they ever have,” he shares.
After graduation this spring, Ben aspires to continue his education at a four-year college studying Language Arts Education.
