Welcome to the Parent Paws Newsletter

The Parent Paws Newsletter appears in the News section of our website every Friday during the school year.

From The Principal

We have a lot of activities coming up in September from retreats, to homecoming week, games and various other activities. Please do your best to help us all stay in school, participating in activities and enjoying our year by being conscious of your health and that of your student. It is vital to our success and to be able to continue as we are. Please notify the office if your child is ill or has symptoms of COVID 19. Please keep them home and look out for their health and well being as well as that of your family.

This year GC is Partnering with Find the Why for a new STREAM Cup. We have taken the lead as the sponsor school and partnered with Find the Why, Creighton University, Bellevue University and College of St. Mary’s along with various businesses to challenge our students on a different level. Encourage your students to sign up with Mr. Hamersky even if they are not in one of his classes, and open up new opportunities, work with their peers as a team or individually, chances to win cash prizes, and possibly gain an internship with a local or national business. Learn more.

Parents: Unable to make the Back to School Open House on September 1st? No problem! Please take a second to meet your student’s teachers by watching our faculty and staff’s Back to School videos.

Math Tutors: New this year at Gross, we have two Ignatian Corp volunteers who will be tutoring students in math (Pre-Algebra to Pre-Calculus only) every Monday through Thursday in the library. If you think your student could benefit from working with a tutor during their open period, please speak with your student’s math teacher.

Homecoming week starts Sunday, September 19th. Check out the full schedule of events and activities.

Thank you to everyone that registered for the Cougar Classic Golf Tournament. Due to the overwhelming response, the event is sold out.

Campus Ministry

Homecoming Mass is scheduled for Tuesday, Sept 21. Following the celebration of Mass, Seniors will learn about the JPII Newman Center at UNO as well as about Newman Centers at other universities.

September 22 is our Fall Mission Day. Students and staff will be serving the community and reflecting on their God-given gifts and talents as they explore this year’s theme: “I am fearfully and wonderfully made.” The day will conclude with praise and adoration led by Ablaze Ministries.

Sophomores mark your calendars. Retreat for Sophomore boys is Monday, Oct 11. Sophomore girls will attend retreat on Tuesday, Oct 12. Additional information is forthcoming.
