Parent Paws Newsletter 2/26/2021

Welcome to the Parent Paws Newsletter

The Parent Paws Newsletter appears in the News section of our website every Friday during the school year.

From the Principal

Thank you to all of you who have returned your registration for the 2021-22 school year. Please turn in your completed registration packet ASAP. Each grade level that is at 90% by noon next Wednesday, March 3rd receives a dress down day on Friday, March 5th. Seniors, please help motivate underclassmen. If two classes reach their goal, seniors can have a dress down day on the 5th too! We start work on scheduling over spring break.

If you are planning to travel during spring break, please let the office know and remember to take every precaution to protect yourself and your family. Most importantly, we ask that when students come back to school they wear a mask at all times and remember to follow our safety guidelines to prevent any possible unknown exposures.

Starting in March, after Spring Break, we have two vendors for lunch. We continue with Chicago Dawgs on Tuesdays and Taco John’s on Thursdays. These vendors remain until the end of the school year.

The student council dodgeball tournament is postponed to Saturday, March 27th.

March 31 is the Cougar Cup! Above all, this is a required school day. All students compete in various events, and the House Cup is awarded at the end of the day.

In lieu of the traditional prom dance our student council is designing a different and creative event that maintains the health and safety of our students. Certainly, it is our plan that this new event will be a formal occasion on the evening of April 17th.

Did you receive your CeleBration packets in the mail? They contain information regarding CeleBration, including Gold Cup ticket sales. Early bird drawing for $1000 is March 24th. Purchase your Gold Cup Ticket HERE.

Only 51 yearbooks left! Reserve your copy of the 2020-21 yearbook before it’s too late. Purchase a yearbook online at or by check to the school office.  Prior to March 1st, yearbooks are $75. The price is $80 after the 1st. Buy one before we run out.

Counselors Corner

Junior and Senior students have the opportunity to take the Clifton Strengths Finder test as a way to begin understanding their natural strengths. Learn more HERE or, in addition, contact Mrs. McNamara if you have questions.

Senior Parents – Please remind your students to notify the counseling office of any and all scholarships they have earned (even if they are for schools they don’t plan to attend). We are beginning to compile this information for recognition day. Scholarship information can be sent via email or hard copies can be brought to the counseling office. We will make a copy and send the originals back home.

Campus Ministry

First, we celebrate a Reconciliation Service on March 5th. We invite all students to visit a priest.

Second, on March 30th students and faculty/staff participate in Mission Day. Mission Day is a required school day when students and faculty/staff take time to reflect on and serve the Human Family.

Third, Marianist Mission hours are due on March 26 by 3:00 PM. Twenty-five hours required each year. We complete 5 hours on Mission Day, therefore, students need to have 20 hours logged by March 26 to meet their Marianist Mission hour requirement.

Fourth, All students have an opportunity to participate in Spring Break Service Days. Please ask your student about this if s/he still needs to complete Marianist Mission hours. Google Classroom has other service opportunities listed.

Finally, Senior Retreat is May 5th. More information to follow.
