Athletic Forms

All the Athletic Forms Needed to Participate

In order to compete in sports and some activities, students must fill out the following three athletic forms and turn the documents into the main office before the sports season begins.  If you are dropping off paperwork in the summertime, office hours are 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM.

Physical Form

Various balls for athleticsAny student engaged in athletics must have a current physical exam taken after May 1st of each school year. Students cannot practice or tryout without a current exam. Of course, this includes cheer and dance teams. We encourage you to see your child’s physician to schedule the necessary sports physical soon. Additionally, please insure your child’s shots are current.  Bring the physical form to the doctor’s appointment.  Ask the doctor fill to out the form. Naturally, turn in completed forms to the main office before the sports season begins. The fall sports season normally begins on the second Monday in August.

Concussion Form

In April of 2011, the Concussion Awareness Act was signed into law to protect student-athletes. It is true that dangers of concussions are often not recognized, not diagnosed, or mismanaged. To assist with prevention, parents and student-athletes, must read and sign the Concussion Form.

Consent Form

In similar fashion, potential dangers associated with sports participation exist. Consequently, injuries are a possibility even with the best coaching, the best protective equipment, and strict observance of rules. In filling out the consent form, parents acknowledge the risk and give consent for treatment.

Permit to Participate Card

In order to receive a Permit to Participate Card, the following three documents must be on file at school.

After all paperwork is turned in for the year, each student must request a Permit to Participate card from the main office. This card is then given to the coach confirming that all paperwork is completed and current. Students are not allowed to tryout for any sport or physical activity without a card. The documents are to be turned in once per year. Permit to Participate cards are be requested for each individual sports season.

Fall Tryouts 2023

The first day of tryouts for football, softball, volleyball, cross-country, girls golf, boys tennis, cheer, and dance is Monday, August 7th. More information on tryout dates and times will be in the Back to School letter which will be mailed out around the last week of July.

Wow!! What a year it has been. We want to thank the seniors for their leadership and hard work for the past 4 years. We wish them the best of luck on the next phase of their lives and always remember, “Once a Cougar, Always a Cougar”.

Final exams for grades 9 thru 11 are May 22nd, 23rd & 24th. Once students are done with their finals, they can leave. Please see the schedule and additional information now.

Lastly, we want to thank each and everyone of our families for their continued support and dedication to our school community. Without your support and help, we wouldn’t be able to keep things moving along.

Business Office

Work Study assignments have been emailed out to all families that were accepted into the program. We had over 260 students apply, with only 200 spots available. If you did not receive an email confirmation then you are on a “wait list”. Please email any questions to: workstudy@gcgmail.org

Tuition accounts that are past due will be receiving a request to meet with the business office. Accounts need to be current before finalizing enrollment for the 2023 – 2024 school year.

2023 – 2024 Gross Catholic tuition agreement and payment plan schedules will be arriving soon via the method that you selected on FACTS. Most will be emailed as requested and the rest will be mailed. The email will come from FACTS Management Company and the subject will be “Gross Catholic High School Payment Plan Confirmation”. The highly anticipated State Meet for Class B track and field is just around the corner, and two standout athletes are poised to make their mark. Maria Connealy, the returning state champion, will be competing in three events: the triple jump, long jump, and 200m. Meanwhile, Josie Jansen will be participating in the 800m and 1600m races. The competition promises to be fierce, with the best athletes from around the state vying for the top spots. With the meet set to take place on Wednesday and Thursday of this week, fans are eagerly anticipating the results. Get tickets using the button above.

Baseball

As you know, the Gross Catholic Boys Baseball team has also qualified for the State Tournament! How exciting! They beat a fiesty Blair team to take the District crown.

During the first round of State, the team came up against a hot Beatrice pitcher and ended up falling 0-5. They came roaring back on Monday, defeating Platte Valley 13-2. Tuesday, May 16, they beat Beatrice in a rematch, 5-2. They now face Elkhorn North at 10 AM on Wednesday, the 17th, again at Fricke. Secure your tickets by clicking the button located above.

Soccer

Gross Catholic Girls Soccer team qualified for the State Tournament by beating the undfeated #1 seed, Grand Island Northwest, which is a great achievement for the team. At the State Tournament, the girls had a great first half against Duchesne, but made a few errors after the half and ended up on the wrong side of a 3-0 scoreline. Great season team!

Everyone is Excited!

The excitement surrounding the school’s sports teams is palpable, and it’s a great feeling for the students, parents, and the entire community.

Our teams have achieved something great by qualifying for the State Tournament. It is a time for the students and parents to come together and support their fellow schoolmates. The entire school community should be proud of the achievements of their fellow students and continue to support them in their sporting endeavors.

As the academic year draws to a close, it’s time to celebrate the many accomplishments of our wonderful seniors at Gross Catholic High School. Over the next month, our school community will be paying tribute to these outstanding students who have worked hard and made their mark during their time here. As we reflect on the achievements of our seniors, we want to express our gratitude to them for the positive impact they have had on our school community. From excelling in academics to demonstrating leadership and serving others, these seniors have shown a commitment to excellence in all areas of their lives.

Throughout this special month, our teachers, staff, and alumni will be praying for our seniors, asking for God’s blessings and guidance as they embark on the next chapter of their lives. We are proud of our seniors and look forward to seeing all the amazing things they will accomplish in the future.

Looking for a fun and entertaining evening out? Look no further than our spring musical, “All Shook Up”! Taking place from March 31st to April 2nd, this musical is a must-see for the whole family.

Based loosely on William Shakespeare’s “Twelfth Night”, “All Shook Up” is set in the 1950s and features all of your favorite Elvis Presley hits. This lively and upbeat show is packed full of love triangles, comedy, and fantastic dance numbers that are sure to have you tapping your toes.

Cast

Our talented cast features Mary Engelkamp as Natalie Haller, Jason Goetz as Chad, and Tristan Guiterrez-Ramos as Jim Haller. Audrey Swanson stars as Sylvia, with Anna Simpson as Lorraine, Andrew Powers as Dennis, and Abigail Zeller as Miss Sandra. Other standout performances include Theresa DeWerth as Mayor Matilda Hyde, Jacob Vankat as Dean Hyde, Isa Simpson as Henrietta, and Andrew Podkovich as Sheriff Earl. The amazing Townspeople are Isabell Zeller, Grace Fanowiel, Jacklynn Bui, Noemi Rinikova, Erin Cassoutt, Lucy Kaczmarek, Monica Mora Becerra, Autumn Hall, and Annie Biros. Julia Bennett rounds out the cast as the Featured Townsperson. With such a talented lineup, you’re sure to be entertained from start to finish.

Spring musicalOur show times are Friday at 7:30pm, Saturday at 7:30pm, and Sunday at 2pm. Adult tickets are $7 and student tickets are $5.

Behind the Scenes

Directed and choreographed by Paloma Power, this musical is a true labor of love. The music is directed by Boston Reid, with Isabell Zeller as assistant choreographer and dance captain. Assistant Dance Captains are Jacklynn Bui & Grace Fanowiel. The show’s lighting design is a collaboration between Paloma Power and Ayla Lee, with Laci Arends serving as stage manager and Ayla Lee and Grace Wozniak as assistant stage managers. The set design is a collaboration between the cast and crew of “All Shook Up”, with costume design by Paloma Power. Music is operated by Grace Wozniak, with lighting operated by Ayla Lee and sound board operated by Shawn Pelchat.

Director Paloma Power has appeared in this production in the past. “I chose this musical because it’s one of my favorite productions that I was ever a part of in college. It’s packed with humor and features a lot of dance numbers! The music is incredibly catchy, with all Elvis Presley hits. It’s a family-friendly show that is guaranteed to make you laugh and leave you wanting to dance along!”
