STREAM Cup Challenge

September 3, 2021

1st Challenge is September 15th -21st

The Challenges are live! Sign up with Mr. Hamersky!

This fall, Ms. Paulette Neuhalfen, in collaboration with Todd Smith, CEO of Symphony Workforce, are launching a STREAM (Science, Technology, Religion, Engineering, Arts, Math) Cup Challenge. Students from Catholic high schools across Eastern Nebraska and Western Iowa compete against each other in a series of six, seven-day virtual challenges. Real industry problems are presented each challenge week with one of the problems focusing on Social Justice/Purpose. Each challenge takes place on the “Find the Why!” (FTW!) gamified mobile platform with problems presented to the students 48 hours prior to the start date. Student teams place their creation and iteration in the FTW! Platform via 24/7 internet access.

Leading businesses in the state of Nebraska, and nationally, are looking for young people of great faith to lead and innovate in and for their companies. These companies supply their actual, pressing problems for the students to attempt to solve.

Advisors

Students engage with a maximum of five advisors, whom they invite to assist them, once each challenge begins. Advisors include college students from partnering universities including Creighton University, College of St. Mary and Bellevue University. Other advisors include alumni, employees from the company who submits the problem, and other business professionals.

How to Win the STREAM Cup

Students can win the competition two different ways.

The Grit Score: The platform is completely gamified and all actions earn points. The harder you work and engage with the advisors on the platform, the more points a team earns.

The Boom Score: The student teams take the given problem and drive it through a roadmap of questions that culminate with a video pitch (60-160 seconds in length). Points are awarded to students who use their God-given talents in idea creation, dynamic presenting, and creative video production.

What is on the line

1.) Cash prizes
2.) Scholarships
3.) Digital resumes and three assessments to help in your post secondary education journey
4.) Virtual internships (Paid and unpaid internships can be offered at anytime)
5.) Social media swag
6.) Winning school receives a $25,000.00 grant

Why our students should participate in the STREAM Cup Challenges

In order to maintain the mental clarity and physical strength required to do their respective work, Christian leaders are committed to staying healthy in mind and body . Their enthusiasm for what they do is contagious, and it sets a good example for their employees and colleagues.

“So let’s not get tired of doing what is good. At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessings if we don’t give up.” — Galatians 6:9

Perhaps it’s their calling, but Christian business leaders are known for always thinking, “what’s next?”
